The South African Payroll Association hosted its Annual Conference on 7 September 2023 at Emperors Palace, Kempton Park, Johannesburg and at Kelvin Grove Club, Newlands, Cape Town. The aim of the conference was to share information and knowledge between the role-players in the payroll environment and to equip our members to better themselves within the industry.
The theme for the convention was: Celebrating the Heritage of Payroll: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow
After a two-year hiatus, The South African Payroll Association (SAPA) announced that it will be hosting a live, in-person conference for one day only, on 28 September 2022 in three regions: Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.
The main event was held at the Indaba Hotel in Johannesburg, while our Cape Town and Durban members were able to view the conference, via live stream at venues. This was an exciting time, as it was a first for SAPA to be able to host a conference on the same day for all three regions.
The aim of the conference was to share information and knowledge between the role-players in the payroll field and to equip our members to be “Payroll Stars”.
The theme of the convention was “Razzle Dazzle with Payroll”
In our current stop-start season and with all the challenges we face, the payroll industry has shown its tenacity and its ability to adapt and to face these challenges head on. We’ve all had to take stock, adjustments had to be made, a new normal had to be navigated and many have come to the conclusion that a “Reset” is inevitable. So, as the payroll industry, what are we doing to reset the course of our industry, or a better question would be, are you ready for the big “Reset”? We attempt to answer some of these questions and more during our virtual SAPA Conference, that took place on 10 September 2021.
The theme for the conference was Ready | Set | Reset
This virtual conference was broadcasted to you in the comfort of your own home or office.
This new decade has brought with it, what many are calling a “new normal”. The term itself has many uncertainties, but what is certain, is that we need a new way of thinking and a new way of doing things. With that been said, SAPA hosted its first virtual conference on 2 September and 4 September 2020, from 10:00 til 12:00 each day.
The theme for this year’s conference was “A NEW DECADE, A NEW SPECTRUM”
With dynamic speakers on display, the conference covered topics like “COVID-19 TERS Applications” presented by the UIF; “The road ahead, in terms of a changing payroll industry”; “Transforming the Payroll Department through a Data Centric Approach”;
“Has Covid killed the traditional employment relationship?”. There was a panel discussion on all things Tax, plus find out how overseas payroll associations and departments are dealing with the financial effects of the Covid-19 crisis.
With a new year come new developments at the South African Payroll Association and one such development is the fact that SAPA hosted one full day conference in all three of its regions. This means a streamlined power packed conference with our members’ needs in mind.
